Automatic repair bill assessment
In Germany and Austria most damage claims still require the services of a claims adjuster. This increases the average cost per claim and slows down claims processing and damage repair. The alternative is to check the repair bills (and assessments) of repair shops by an expert system. This can only be done when the required information is digitally available. However, most insurance companies still receive the forms on paper, by mail or by fax.
Posthuma Partners and FormFeed have developed a service for automatic checking of bills and assessments against a set of business rules. This reduces claims handling costs because only damage assessments that exceed the norm repair value will require a visit of an adjuster. For this service FormFeed extracts the relevant parts from the paper document and sends the resulting XML file into the web service of Posthuma‘s expert system. The expert system then advises the insurance company about the next step: payment and repair or sending an adjuster to the repair shop.
